Split-screen video documenting an hour at London Euston train station. A collection and digital-collage of footage of people in transit. The split-screen mimics their entries and exits, reflecting the unique rhythms, flows and timings of peoples’ unique schedules, like well-rehearsed dance routines. The act of capturing people eating albeit voyeuristic and violent intervention, is a device aimed at mirroring the panoramic recording by CCTV cameras, in public spaces. The act of eating itself is a seemingly innocuous and mundane ritual that everyone must transact – a grounding mechanism, if you like. Yet it raises many questions, amongst which: whether the act of eating is a social or solo one? A private or public act?
Exhibited in WOMB ACADEMY @ Meanwhile Space, London, UK. Curated by Womb Academy.
